Very simply, ITSO's charter is to
- improve the quality of work performed by independent technicians
- improve the relationship between indpendent technicians and the companie that contract them
- provide advice and guidance for independent technicians entering the market
- provide a place for independent technicians to voice their concerns, grievances, suggestions, and experiences
